“When I was suffering a crisis in my life a few years ago, I was very lucky to be referred for counselling by my GP and it was an excellent and life changing experience. Over the course of several weeks of counselling sessions mixed with deep relaxation techniques Wilma guided my recovery, providing me with support where necessary, and teaching me techniques to use myself to assist in the recovery process. I have absolutely no hesitation in saying that without Wilma’s support I would not have been able to put the crisis behind me, resume my employment and return to living my normal life.”

Weight loss – Orkney/Shetland client

“I have been overweight since my childhood and years of dieting had left me jaded and thinking I would be overweight for the rest of my life. I had heard positive things about hypnotherapy through friends and decided to give it a go as it was one of the few things I had yet to try.

I saw results from the first session and am now 4.5 stone lighter and still losing weight. I have gained an unprecedented level of understanding of quite why I was overweight and have been set free from the search for the ‘magic list’ of foods to eat to lose weight and now simply make decisions on what to eat and when.

I would heartily recommend Wilma for hypnotherapy for weight loss, I always felt relaxed and that I could trust her implicitly.”

“Following a traumatic visit to the dentist I developed a severe phobia, it was so bad that I had to go into hospital for extractions under general anaesthetic. When I finally plucked up the courage to go to a dentist because of pain I had a panic attack and then the dentist thought that the best course of action would be to take out all of my teeth. I came home thought about this and contacted Wilma for hypnosis – I had never undertaken anything like this before but I thought it would be worth a try. I had three sessions with Wilma and then went back to the dentist and I was amazed by what happened, I was able to sit in the dentist chair and have my teeth inspected. I have subsequently visited the dentist on a regular basis and have had fillings in my teeth, my phobia has completely vanished. I have to say that I would recommend Wilma to anyone who has a phobia.”

“I’ve known Wilma my whole life, she has always been supportive.

In later years I came into contact with her again when a member of my family became ill.  As a consequence of his illness my two youngest boys were traumatised and were referred to the Art Therapy Service by the Education Department.   Both said they feel Wilma saved their sanity.

A chance meeting may sum up what I am trying to say.  I was having a conversation recently with an acquaintance. He was lamenting on the length of time people who had come off heroin and needed therapy desperately were having to wait for counselling services in Shetland.  We were considering ways of raising money to provide this help for a few to start with. Mentioning no names I just said one of my friends was what I believed a most experienced therapist.  His immediate reply was ‘Wilma Stewart’.  I just said, ‘Yes, that’s amazing – how did you know who I was talking about?’  He answered that when he was young she had been the first person who had been able to help him.

Two of my children went to her for help yet she has never disclosed the content of it. Her confidentiality is impeccable and she has a natural talent to which she has added many years of study and development.  I could not recommend her more highly.”
